TRANSLATIONS I translate
literary
non-fiction books and art

Lewis-Stempel, Nigel Slater, Will Gompertz, Grayson Perry and Helen
Jukes. Areas
of interest: art, photography, psychology, nature writing, gardening/cooking.
BOOKS In addition to

Wörter, die es nicht auf Hochdeutsch gibt
("Words that do not exist
in written German"), DuMont Buchverlag 2019, presents fifty non-translatable terms from German
dialects, with illustrations by
Nikolaus Heidelbach. My second book,
Die alten Obstsorten ("Heirloom Fruit
Varieties"), was published October 13, 2020 by DuMont
Buchverlag; the second printing is under way. It contains fifty long and about a hundred short portraits of old varieties
of apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches and other fruit, with
historical illustrations from the 19th century, interesting stories and
chapters on the history, cultivation and culinary uses of heirloom fruit
varieties.
